Check list for Slope Cutting
Operational Control Procedures for Excavation
1. Purpose:
This submittal pertain to our proposed Methodology for the
preparation of side slope 1:2 ratio as per approved cross section of
plan and profile.
2. Scope:
The Scope of this methodology cover following activities:
(I) Setting out and marking.
(II) Repair and compaction procedure foe existing rain cuts on slope.
(III) Cutting of 500 mm extra width of formation to achieve side slope in 1:2 ratio.
3. Cross Reference:
(I) Contract agreement documents/Technical Specification
(II) RDSO/2007/GE-0014
(III) All other applicable Indian Standard/Specification as mentioned
in contract agreement
(IV) Morth
4. Construction Methodology:
(I) Setting out and marking:
(a) Center line of the formation
(b) Toe line of the formation top
(c) OGL toe of the formation
(b) Fixing of pegs at every 10 m of formation top and toe of the OGL at either
side.
(e) Marking will be done with the help of rope and measuring tape.
(II) Rectification of Rain cuts on slope:
Reference - Morth section 300
Affected portion will be surveyed jointly with client representatives for
classification of the rain cuts as follow.
* Presence of rain cuts in the portion of slope cutting 0.5m.
* Presence of rain cuts in the portion of final formation.
a) Rectification procedure for presence of rain cuts in the
portion of slope cutting 0.50m.
There is no separate rectification required for particular rain cuts. This
will be removed during final slope cutting prior to turfing activity.
b) Rectification procedure for presence of rain cuts in the portion of final formation.
The areas affected by rain cuts shall be cleared of all loose soil and benched
for the area of accessing the graders and rollers. Approved suitable fresh material (SQ-2) shall be deposited in layers not exceeding 200mm thickness
and compacted so as to match with the benching at moisture content close to the optimum. Compaction shall be carried out using suitable equipment
such as vibratory rollers.Compaction test shall be made as per approved FQP/ Specification. The finished work shall conform to the alignment, level
and slopes as indicated in the drawing or as directed by the Engineer.
(III) Construction:
a) Cutting of 500mm extra width of formation on either sides to achieve
compacted side slope in the ratio 1:2 as per approved plan and design.Cut
soil will be removed from the site and that will be used further as suitable
location as embankment material as (SQ-1).
b) The sequence of cutting will be starting from blanket layer to embankment
layer.
c) This activity will be done with machinery- Excavator with mounted
blade/JCB/ Grader.
d) To get proper and uniform surface of the slope dressing will be done by
spade/shovel by skilled labour.
e) Whenever extra soil cutting more than 1:2 slope, soil will be placed on the
portion of pockets and compacted with suitable vibratory attachment of
excavator.
f) The cut slope shall be ensured with free from debris and undesirables
materials.
g) To avoid any damage to the toe of the formation, slope arrangements /profiling shall be done in the toe of the formation for drain away the
surface run off from the toe.
h) Existing additional slope shall be remain to strengthen and profiling to
drain away the surface run off and avoid damage to the toe.
j) Checking 1.5 m slant length template in 1:2 slope will be arrange at site for
the checking of the desired slope.
(IV) Machinery Deployment
a) Excavator with mounted blade/Vibratory arrangements
b) JCB
c) Grader
d) Water Tanker
e) 3M Straight Edge
